We represent people of colour

(Black, Asian+Minority Ethnic students)

at Durham University.

WHO WE ARE

The Durham People of Colour Association (DPOCA) aims to provide representation and support for students of Durham University who identify as a person of colour. DPOCA serves as a safe, welcoming space for people of colour to access confidential welfare services, meetings and talks, social events, campaigns, and education on race-related issues, as well as facilitate greater racial dialogue and awareness on campus.

Who we are

Report a Race-RELATED Incident

Durham University Students Only

As part of our ongoing campaign to raise awareness of racial issues in Durham, we will be posting self-reported race-related incidents from Durham University students on Facebook on a monthly basis.

No incident is 'too small' or 'insignificant', every harassment is an act of violence and is unacceptable.

WHAT WE DO

Often times for students from non-traditional backgrounds, typically those from underrepresented racial groups, there can be a few challenges when adjusting to Durham. DPOCA was created so that students who feel a little out of place can have a chance to be around people they can identify with so that they may feel a bit more comfortable in an environment where they may not feel fully included.
